The Park School was founded in 1851 as an Independent School with a Christian Foundation. Since then many pupils have been cared for in the purpose built modern boarding house and in small teaching groups within the school. The school provides a full academic curriculum and a rich programme of extra curricular activities . Choral and instrumental music, drama and sport offer opportunities for all pupils. Each pupil is known and cared for as an individual. This ensures each pupil's potential is fully realised in a safe and happy environment. At 16 pupils have many options open to them for sixth form study in state or independent schools, mixed or single sex. They can also, as boarders, remain in the boarding house and attend the excellent sixth form college.
Pupils in the Boarding House enjoy purpose built facilities. Not more than 2 pupils in one room and most pupils have single rooms. Evenings are full of many activities which take pupils out of school, e.g. Brownies, Cubs, Guides, Swimming Club, Hockey Club, local band, etc. The school is situated in a pleasant area near the town centre which enable pupils to walk into town in small groups after school. Weekly boarders are welcomed. We do not anticipate that the boarding house will grow to over 30 pupils. Boys and girls can stay with us from 8 years to 18 yearsor older. Escorted transport can take pupils to all main line airports. A new building and refurbishment programme has been completed in April 1996 to enhance the school facilities. Art, Home Economics, Biology and Mathematics rooms are all re-equipped and re-decorated. A new squash court has also opened. In 1997 there have been substantial upgrading of computers.
The town has two stations with connections to London, Exeter, Bristol and Weymouth. Yeovil is at the gateway to the West Country and many places of great beauty are within an hours drive of the town.
Language courses for foreign students wishing to improve their English are now on offer during the main holiday periods of Christmas, Easter and Summer.
There is an active PTA who organise a variety of different events during the course of the year. There is also a Past Pupils' Association which holds meetings on a quarterly basis.
